The Institute of International Economic Law (IIEL) at Georgetown Law has launched a new, non-degree course on WTO law and policy, to be offered as a week-long “Academy” at the Law Center beginning in Fall 2006. The dates for the first program are October 23-27, 2006. The purpose of the IIEL Academy is to provide an intensive course in the legal obligations and policy underpinnings of the WTO and its agreements, in the context of how the WTO operates and how it relates to national governments. The program is designed to help governments, educational institutions, and others build the capacity to take advantage of the multilateral trading system, by training legal professionals, government officials, academics, and others -- including those from developing countries.
