On Monday, March 26 from 9:30am-12:30pm, The Georgetown Journal of Legal Ethics and the Center for the Study of the Legal Profession will host an interdisciplinary panel discussion, film screening, and keynote speech addressing several questions. First, do prosecutors operate in (and create) a distinctive legal “culture”? What practices and understandings animate this culture? And finally: What social and psychological factors might contribute to professional and legal misconduct?
Our panelists and distinguished guests—including District Attorney Cyrus Vance and documentary filmmaker Ofra Bikel—will deal with issues from the exercise of discretion in terrorist prosecutions to the obligations that prosecutors have to present exculpatory evidence to jurors. The scholars and practitioners on our panel will invite questions from students and visitors to the Law Center, and the event will culminate in an informal lunch.
