Securities Litigation
Professor Dorfman LL.M Course 941 (cross-listed) | 2 credit hours Financial fraud, Ponzi schemes, hedge funds, insider trading, and conflicts of interest have all made headline news. They also often result in litigation. This course will survey the various contexts in which claims arising under the securities laws may be litigated, including criminal prosecutions, litigation with the SEC and other regulators, securities arbitration and class and derivative actions. Recent trends and current issues in private securities litigation as well as SEC proceedings will be discussed. Prerequisite: Securities Regulation.
