African-American Critical Thought Seminar
Professor Cook J.D. Seminar 041 | 3 credit hours This course explores the cyclical history of Black subordination and liberation in American society and the Supreme Court's pivotal role in that history. By contrasting the possibilities fostered by civil rights gains in education, public accommodation, voting, housing and employment to the persistence of racial inequality throughout the society, students will critically reflect on the necessary conditions for Black progress in a racially polarized society still struggling with the legacy of slavery and segregation.
