International Trade Seminar: The WTO and Subsidies
Professor Richard Diamond J.D. Seminar 452 (cross-listed) | 3 credit hours This is an advanced writing seminar for individuals who are familiar with the basic tenets of the Agreement Establishing the WTO. This year, we will concentrate on the Agreement on Subsidies and Countervailing Measures and/or the Agreement on Technical Barriers to Trade. Paper topics need to address WTO issues but are not limited to topics involving the ASCM or TBT. Prerequisites: The student must have a basic knowledge of the WTO substantive law (MFN, National Treatment, Art. XX, etc.) and dispute settlement procedures (such as is taught in International Law II) and some familiarity with basic economics. Questions regarding these prerequisites should be addressed to Professor Diamond (diamond@law.georgetown.edu).
