Access to Health Care and Coverage: Law and Policy
Professor Hunter J.D. Course 534 (cross-listed) | 3 credit hours The law governing access to health care was revolutionized by the health reform legislation enacted in spring 2010. Or was it? This course will examine America’s system for health care coverage, including employment-based private insurance, Medicare, Medicaid, and the structures, such as exchanges, being developed under the new system. The course will also analyze how older legal mechanisms such as anti-discrimination laws affect the quality of treatment, independently of the patient’s insurance status. Presentations by a variety of experts will provide students with an in-depth understanding of the new law.
